[Peugeot-L] Dreaded ZN3J fault code problems

Hi all, my 1987 V6 sedan is now running very erratically with the fault code indicator flashing almost constantly 6 flashes. I can turn the engine off and then back on and it will continue to flash 6 times. When trying to accelerate the engine feels like it's only running on 2-3 cylinders but if I back off on the gas pedal and drive slowly it somewhat remedies itself. The car has been idling quite roughly for a long time, ever since I tried (unsuccessfully) to lower the idle speed.

I noticed a post from some time ago where the owner of a similar car changed the plugs, leads, cap and coil to fix the problem, I'm wondering if I need to do the same as I have almost all the parts required. I drove the car to work today and it was fine in the morning but on the way home it started to run erratically. Anyone have any thoughts?

cheers

Richard
