Another thing to consider is, If I were to commit a crime Fuel economy is my last concern. I want something fast..Thus forcing the police to step up.
And there are cars that can do Both. My MINI S gets 25 to 28 in rush hour ( as long as I drive it nice ) and Over 32 on the Hiway.

High performance cars are not old fashioned...in fact, many get great
fuel economy (considering).
Hybrids are a joke....although I am all for biodiesel.....
There can be high performance cars that are fuel efficient. But
don't discount high performance cars at all.
Of course, when I was in Germany a few weeks ago, filling up that TDI
Passat with $97 worth of diesel wasn't fun.....still, I was doing
120-125 the entire time so it drank fuel.
