Hey everybody;
I am going to junk another 504 next week - 1974 automatic gas sedan - have
valve train, head, intake & exhaust manifolds, carbs, clutch fan, drive
axles, rear-end, brakes, wheels, lug nuts, one interior column light,
instrument cluster, radiator, heater core, owners manual, all glass (new
windshield!) etc. Almost all interior parts and exterior lighting are
unusable.....
Anybody need anything? Tom Woods

Anyone have a new or good used thermostat housing for an '89 405 Mi16?
The bleeder nipple has cracked on mine, and I'm just going to glue it
over, but I'd like a good one with a functional bleeder.
Western Hemispheres sells a brand new one pretty cheap, but it doesn't
work with the old style water manifold. If I have to, I'll buy the
updated water manifold and the updated thermostat housing, but I kind
of don't want to....

Andy,
Peter is right. Fluid contamination can cause lockup of the rear
brakes. My guess is either there is fluid all over the shoes because
the brake cylinder is defective or was installed wrong,
or a piece of hardware is missing. What ever it is, the rear drums will
have to come off again. Take a good look when you do take off the drums
and make sure the brake hardware is installed right, the shoes match
the old ones, I'm not sure if you bought O.E.M. parts or from whom they
were bought, but they could be the wrong shoes as well. Make sure the
pad length is the same as on the old shoes. The trailing shoe has
different placement of the friction material thats bonded to the shoes
itself so verify shoes are similar. Good luck.

I sent my car to a detailer yesterday and went today to pick
it up. They broke the rubber flat piece that covers the emergency
brake opening, and now you can see the mirror switch cables.
Any of you have one than can sell me?
Thanks.
ps: yes I complained, but I am part owner of the shop, so I cant
complain that much :(
