These late model Argentine 504's really look great, and with an exchange rate of about 3:1, reasonably priced in the used car market there. For several years now I've been thinking about going to Buenos Aires and buying a late model 504 diesel; ship it to Ensenada BCN Mexico. Grab a bus to Ensenada, bringing with me the Calif plates, registration and dash & door id tags from either my 504 or another 504 I had. After receiving it in Mexico as a tourist I would change all the necessary items and drive it back home to Santa Ana CA. I think it would work although I have not checked out all the details yet. The only problem I can forsee is that , post 9/11, the plates of all vehicles entering the US might be checked against a list to make sure that car did indeed leave the US. For now it is just a pipe dream but some day.........
