I agree with everything you say EXCEPT the "racing" and the "burn out" part for the models that are capable of such feats. (Are 4 wheel drifts considered a burn out? :)
Peugeot's performance versions are just that and should be driven as such. I drive my car quite hard, and it performs flawlessly (Maintained VERY well.) My 505 Turbo is a bit tired - but it has endeared itself to me to the point that I have no reservations of doing a total restoration.
To each his own though...

Subject: [Peugeot-L] 505 daily driver? Why not?
With all those who are giving up on thier 505's, there are LOTS of
great parts cars floating around. Iv'e seen 505's for $100 canadian,
that can keep your 505 running for years. Sometimes the cheapies only
need a couple hours of welding, then will go for another 20 years.
And drive them nice. Forget racing, burnouts, pulling huge boats or 5
of your fat buddies. But who cares! WIth smooth normal driving, a 505
can last forever. Just don't forget those oil changes, rust proofing
and all fluid maintenance while your at it.
Didn't Peugeot Pete teach us anything???
