[Peugeot-L] Re: high beam non working

It's been a long time, but as I remember, it is just the grease plasticising and causing the high beam switch mechanism not to latch. I don't remember having too much trouble with the springs, but I can't seem to remember exactly what the trick was, although I think I used some stiff wire to hold them in while re-assembling, then pulling the wire out. Next time I come across one, I'll take pictures. =)

Phil,

When you take them apart, what do you find is the problem? I assumed that something breaks on the high beam latching mechanism.

How do you keep the springs from flying when you take them apart?

If the high-beam is inop totally, then it's the stalk. Try pulling it (pass to flash) when the lights are off. The pre-86 stalks would get "sticky" when the lube dried up and be hard to get to "click". I have never found one I couldn't take apart and repair.
