Apologies if this comes through twice. Sent it yesterday and have
seen several messsages come through much newer, including one of my
Onown replies...
Hey guys.
My lovely french wench has once again started acting more wench than
french. She seems to run fine will under load, but during idle she
tries desperately to stall, sometimes quite successful. Also, very
erratic idle even if she doesn't stall. Sometimes I can start her up
and it drives fine for 10 minutes or so, but eventually, it begins to
stall ad idle. Not very safe to have drive a manual car with foot on
both gas and brakes.
I know most of you will suggest a vacuum (air getting into system)
leak, but I have done a bit of work on the car just to rule some
things out. It doesn't appear to be the diaphragm on the fuel filter,
though tommorow I will rule it out 100% by using an inline filter
temporarily to test that hypothesis. It also doesn't appear to be a
leak anywhere in the fuel line. I just checked and adjusted the
valves, but the car was doing this before I adjusted them. According
to the trouble shooting diagnosis chart, listed under "return to idle
very slow - or stalling on deceleration" it is either, idle or
*antistall settings. Antistall settings then has a note, *(not
adjustable on VE pump outside of idle adjust). I'm a bit worried that
it might be IP, but would find it curious since it runs fine under
load.
Bad IP might be the death blow to this car :(
any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
