Anybody done this? Anyone even heard of it?
It sounds nuts, but I've been dealing with the same chain of tire stores here for fifteen years and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. So when the guy suggested I pay an extra five bucks per tire to have them inflated with nitrogen, I figured I'd give it a try. Supposed to increase gas mileage (no one's ever claimed THAT before!), reduce leakage through the rubber, rims leaks due to corrosion, etc. Supposedly, NASA and airlines do it. It's compatible with our plain ol' air, so I can add air if necessary, then return to the tire place to have the tire purged and refilled for free.
I would've laughed, except I trust this place. Anyone know anything about this?
