I'm looking for a (working) used starter for a 1982 505 TURBO Diesel.
This is different (smaller) from the starter for the 1982 505 Diesel.
I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area and will check All Foreign in
Berkeley. But other than that, anybody have ideas on where to find
such?
I could order a new one for $385, but given the mileage (198,000) of
the car, I can't see doing that. This has been a solid and
comfortable car for me, which I've driven for the last 3 1/2 years and
40,000 miles. It seems to be getting to the point of diminishing
returns, given its age and mileage.
I have a great Peugeot mechanic, named Jim Askim of Askim's Auto Works
in San Rafael (phone 415-459-3309.) He worked at the Marin Peugeot
dealership for over 10 years, has many used parts, and is honest,
forthright, and knows Peugeots inside & out. He now specializes in
Peugeots & Subarus. He just doesn't have a used starter for my car.
By the way, I've removed the dead starter, and have digital photos to
aid in identification. (This after puchasing a rebuilt starter from a
local CarQuest parts store, and receiving a starter too large to fit
in my car.)
Any ideas on a used parts source?
