[Peugeot-L] 86 505GL Wagon XN6: Now running well

I've posted a lot about problems. With the help of you all, I've had some good news for a change.

With a replacement engine, things started to look up.

Work done:

New plugs, [Bosch Silvers] plug wires. rotor, cap, adjusted fuel distributor with dwell meter, timed by Philippe, replaced some bad grounds, cleaned and tightened others, oil, filter, 1000 cca battery installed, voltmeter to monitor state of charge mounted under dash, front end checked and aligned. Case breather hose and crankcase gas [egr?]filter elements installed (these were missing) Tires at 35 PSI.

I took the wagon on a trip to a library conference. Nearly 700 miles. Ran very well. Coolant temperature fluctuated under load, but not to dangerous levels--about halfway up the gauge at most climbing mountains. Down shifted the 4 speed auto transmission occasionally. Mobil 1 15-30 synthetic oil did not leak at all--was only slightly tinted and clear on the dipstick after the trip.

MPG = 24 (US gal) at speed average of around 65 MPH.

Big improvement over 14 MPG.

Thanks!
