I have repaired many of those things quite reliably by simply taking a
piece of fuel line of the appropriate diameter, cutting to fit in the hole
and, with a drop or two of oil in the center, installing back over the ball
with a long-nose vice grips. Make sure to use a piece of fuel line that
gives you a very tight fit over the ball and oil it - it will last for
