I pulled one glow plug and figured it wouldn't hurt to try exactly what you
said. It got hot very quick, but I didn't leave it connected but for a few
seconds. Red hot, no, I guess I didn't leave it on long enough. With the air
input pipe to the turbo off for who knows how long I figure there is a
certain amount of dirt in the cylinders. This may have been confirmed by a
gritty feel to the carbon on the element of the glow plug. But, what do I
know about diesels? I will put some diesel additive in the tank on the next
fill up. Maybe it will clean it out in there a little.
On Friday I bought two new fuel filters. I was planning on installing one
soon after putting the biodiesel in the tank. The guy at the parts store
said the filter I was asking for is for a John Deere. I wonder if someone
replaced the original with the one it now has? The filter has a clear trap
at the bottom. Anyway it looks new now. There is a primer pump on top and it
looks original to me. The assembly is attached to the firewall.
I checked the vacuum by pulling the hose at the canister by the left front
headlight. I didn't put a gauge on it but there was good vacuum to the
touch. Also the wastegate control valve is getting power at 1500 RPMs but I
didn't see it move the valve. It does move when I suck on it. Maybe I better
check the vacuum pressure.I also put a stethoscope on the turbo I don't hear
any whining.
You say you sell parts on ebay, do you also have a webpage to browse?
Thanks for the info.
