You can get adapters for either the injector holes or the glow plug holes. You need at least a 300 psi unit.
I bought a Snap on on eBay at a reasonable price with a Bosch injector adaptor included

Hello Roger
Yes the turbo looks quite difficult to get to. In fact when I got this car
the dealer said it needed a head gasket because there was air in the
coolant. Not so much that it was blowing the coolant lines, but when I take
the cap off there is bubbles. I found the fan switch on the radiator is not
working, bypassed it, and unplugged the electric fan and it stabilized the
temperature. I need a new temp switch. But, this works for now. I woill do
anything to avoid pulling the head. I think the whole deal with the turbo
replacement depends on how much damage was done to the engine by not having
the air cleaner hooked in.
Let me ask you all this: How do I do a compression test with no spark plug
holes to put the compression gauge in? Can I get an attachment for my
current gauge set that fits the glow plug threads? Do I need to stop the
fuel system before doing the test? How do I shut off the fuel pump?
So my answer to your question about the turbo is 'yes' but let's wait a few
weeks until I see if the engine needs a complete overhaul.
Thanks again.
And thank you for the great insight into diesels. I have heard about the
routine duties needed to maintain turbos, like not shutting the engine off
until the turbo winds down.
truly thanks.
