RE: [Peugeot-L] Advice on 405 Radiator Fans again

Hi Sasi,

Sounds like the mechanic may have wired the fan to go on when car ignition is on, and not to the temp switch, which should control the fan according to engine temp.

The fans should run until the temp sensor tells it to stop - even with the ignition off and the key removed. Since they come on at start up - and don't shut off at all - they sound like the wiring is bypassing the temp switch and giving it power when the ignition is on.

This is most commonly done right at the temp switch wiring plug (at the radiator usually) and a simple jumper wire is used to give the fan full power. This is a good temp work around when the sensor fails - and it isn't engaging the fan at all.

Hope that helps!

Rabin

Subject: [Peugeot-L] Advice on 405 Radiator Fans again

I just wanted to know if in the 405 GLD, once the temperature rises enough (70 degrees celsius) for the fans to come on and if you shut the car, do the fans remain automatically on till the temp drops below 70degrees? In my earlier 309 GLD, they would remain on till the temp drops. However, in my 405 GLD, they stop when you shut the ignition off and restart again once the key is turned, even if the car has been standing around for 2 hours or so. Please do keep in mind that I am talking of Indian Summer where, as of now the temp has reached 38 degrees already. If they are to remain on, that means there is some Onproblem in my car, if not, then I guess its OK. Advice please.... thank you..
