Hello Puggie people.
1981 505s TD Upgrade for a car enthusiast
I have no idea how I managed to collect these kooky cars. In my early days I
was a fatory trained VW mechanic. So I always liked German cars. I have also
had a fondness for Italian cars too. I restored a fiat 850 Spider or at I
think it was a Spider, any way it has an 850 cc air cooled rear mounted
engine, in a convertible I was in heaven as VDubs were also rear exclusively
engined in those days. I feel in love with Italian body styles. Heck even VW
had the Carmin Ghia.
I have two Bavarias, same year no title on either, or I would sell the one I
put all the parts into. I traded for the first one from a lawyer but the
title I got was for a different car, can you believe that? Freakin Lawyers!
The Bavarias have dual water cooled Weber Carburetors. I always wished that
car had a five speed tranny. Anyway with the hassles with the title I lost
interest in the BMW. The 250 Mercedes is an odd ball too. It also has dual
carbs on a straight six. Not nearly as cool as the Beamer but I have the
title. I had a German shop owner rebuild the head on the 250 at great
expense. The car never ran right after that. I should have let it smoke, at
least it ran.
Everything I own requires more time than I am willing to give to upkeep.
Except for my new Puggie. I love this car. If you think I have odd taste in
cars what do you think the average Joe who comes to a ranch in New Mexico
thinks when they see my collection of "Yard Art?"
If I had a few bucks to work with I would buy a newer Peugeot diesel than
the 1981 505s TD. It needs some work for sure.
This reminds me, I never asked this group what their favorite late model
Diesel Peugeot is?
I mean if I was to get a loan to buy a good car and I want only diesel
engine what would I buy?
P.S. When a friend saw my tag list of cars he added a few of his, starting
out with running cars ending with pogo stick, carpet, broom. Hehe
