I did exactly that, and discovered the return hose had shrunk a bit, and retightened the clamp. Two fill-ups later, no smell or leakage. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's where the smell in my other SW8 came from. Nice to have an easy fix for a change.

Before you remove the tank Bill, lift the carpet, remove the covers and check your pipes and hoses. Don't need to drain the tank this way
