Weird and intermittent electrical issues are often caused by faulty grounds.
Some computer systems do not like to have the HV leads run in the wrong
direction, I.E. around the distributor cap. I don't know about the Peugeot
Brain but GM books state this issue. Anyway if the ground from the engine to
the body is poor all kinds of crazy stuff happens. I have seen windshield
wipers come on instead of turn indicators because the grounds were bad.
Electricity finds a new path when the proper ground is missing.
Run known good jumper cables to various points on the body from the battery
(-) terminal. See if it makes a difference.
