Re: [Peugeot-L] Mi16 Alt/Crank/AC Belt Size

Eduardo,

It is just a matter of taking up the space between the 8 mm mounting stud on the engine and the 10 mm hole in the VW tensioner
Nothing needs to be threaded
I have the VW tensioner mounted on the car so I can't measure the width of the tensioner where the stud passes through It might be better to get a tube that is 5/16" or 8 mm and drill the tesioner out to fit. The tube should be exactly the same length as the tesion is wide. I will have the tensioner off tomorrow or the next day and will measure it. But are all VW tensioners the same width?

I like the sound of Bill's tensioner better than the one I got. His has the 8 mm sq hole like the Mi16 original; mine has 2 tiny holes for some VW special tool I used a bike bottom bracket adjusting Park tool.

If you send me a drawing of that I can make it in bronze and send it   to you....

Down here there are lots of machine shops making unavaliable parts. Helicoils,   for example, are unheard of. A bronze insert with inside and outside threading   is US$3, custom made while you wait...
