Hey group-
I've asked about this before, but now I've started working on it and
need more advice.
I need to replace at least the front speakers in my '89 Mi16,
because they're blown up. I'd like to keep the factory deck, and not
spend an arm and a leg on stero stuff. I bought some $40 5 1/4 inch
Blakpunkt speakers from Crutchfield, but they sound like crap. They
distort at normal volumes. The guy at Crutchfield said that it's
because the factory deck is putting out something like 20 watts and
I'm under powering them. Thing is, they don't sell any speakers that
have that low of an RMS.
So, my questions are:
Are the factory speakers still available from anywhere? They sounded
OnOnfine to me until they blew...
Does anyone know from experience the exact speaker make and model
that that will fit in the doors and sound decent?
And, if I have to replace the head unit to get decent sound, is
there a specific model that fits properly and looks good (no stupid
flashing lights and HELLO / GOODBYE messages).
Thanks for reading....
