THREE OR FOUR INCHES!?! WHOA--DON'T DRIVE IT!
You have a serious disconnect in your front suspension A-arms,
probably at the front or rear of the forward arm. It is totally
unsafe to drive in this condition.
Maybe the rubber in the front bushing where the front A-arm attaches
at the radiator support crossmember is totally gone, allowing the arm
to slop back and forth in the bracket, but even that should only give
you two inches or less of travel at the wheel.
Jack it up and have a look, comparing one side to the other if
necessary. The bushings are replaceable.
