[Peugeot-L] rattle at idle and when lifting the gas pedal.

I bought a veeeeerrrrrrry nice 1990 Citroen BX 3 months ago cheap. The reason I bought it cheap is because the owner was told that the annoing rattle at idle and when lifting the gas pedal quickly was a loose piston pin and that fixing it was half the cars price (in southamerican labor money, of course. in the US it would be a junker).

Anyway, a mechanic friend of mine diagnosed it as 'broken flexplate'. I did not beleive him but told him to go ahead and dissassemble, the tranny had to come out anyway to overhaul the engine.

this is what he found:

Only thing holding it together was the lack of space! torque was transfered by the bolt heads....

The same pieces are used in automatic 405s (the spare parts I got off a junked 405) so if your rattle, check this. I when to several junk yards to find one not cracked. It seems a common failure mode...
