Hi all,
I'm new to the list, and just bought an '82 505S turbo diesel. I have
a couple issues with it to get it actually running. Major issue right
now is that it has a broken clutch fork. I have no books, so I'm
flying blind, and have never worked on a french car. I figured I
should take off the exhaust so I can remove the driveshaft, but it
goes over the rear suspension. Do I have to remove the rear suspension
anyway? The driveshaft is different than I've seen, it's inside that
solid tube? Anyway, can someone give me some pointers on how to get
the driveshaft and transmission off? What all needs to be removed to
get to this thing?
I bought a new clutch fork, and a new clutch slave cylinder, but
neither part came with the push rod. Does anyone have one of those for
sale?
Also, when it hits 60mph, it nearly shakes itself apart. My wife was
following and said the right rear tire was bouncing. New shocks? I
bought new sensatracs, but can't figure out how to remove the old
ones. The top bolt is right behind the metal plate that the seat back
attaches to. Thought I could get to it by pulling the fuel tank, but
can't get that out because the fuel lines going down through the sheet
metal on the left give me no room to get the filler tube out from the
body on the right... French definately use a totally different logic
than the Japanese. On my old corolla, everything is just as I would
expect it to be. Gotta re-adjust my thinking for this thing.
