The engine head is known to develop cracks. Look for capuccino-like
foam under the oil filler cap, foamy motor oil, oily coolant, white
smoke and hesitation on start-up. New radiator, boiling coolant in
expansion jar - also signs the head might be bad.
The pre-1988 automatic trannies also had problems.
