[Peugeot-L] Ambient air temp sensor--advice?

Hi
I have a minor but annoying problem with a Peugeot 406XL 2000. Turbo Diesel 110 BHP Climate control. (Saloon, 4 door) The outside (ambient) air temperature reading seems OK when I first start up, but after running for about 5 minutes the temp reading begins to rise to about 10 degrees above the outside temp and then rises and falls at irregular intervals. There's still a slight risk of ice here in the early hours and I dislike being without the ice warning.

Does anyone know where the sensor is located and whether it's possible for it to become dislodged into warm airflow from the engine? Or any other reason for this?

I can take it to my Peugeot dealer, but I always come away with a badly damaged wallet!
Just hoping there may be a simple solution.

Any suggestions would be welcome
Thanks
Trev
