Don't under estimate a well tuned 505 Turbo Josh... The XR4Ti is a great car no doubt - but my relatively stock 505 Turbo has SPANKED two fairly highly modified XR4Ti's in local autocross competitions. It'll definitely surprise you once you start pushing limits that's for sure.
I'm a decent driver - but the car definitely has some CRAZY capabilities in the right hands....

Subject: Re: [Peugeot-L] Im looking at buying a 505 turbo. Any thing I should be looking out for?
Thanks for the thoughts and the sugestion about the audi's. Im mainly looking at this car because of the price and the looks. I have a merkur xr4ti that is a turbo 5 speed and Im sure that would spank this 505. The 505 is only 800 and Im sure that I could hand him 600 cash and he would take it. If it was more expensive I probably wouldnt even bother talking to the guy about it. Im just going for cheap fun.
Thanks though and I do agree that audi has some nice cars, just nothing that I can afford. lol

Josh,
I don't mean to take the wind out of your sails, but
if you are looking for a mid-sized sedan with a turbo
charged engine and 5 speed, I would seriously consider
an Audi 5000CS Turbo or TurboQuattro/200Turbo or
TurboQuattro. These cars have solid 5 cylinder
engines with strong turbos capable of very significant
boost. All the turbo cars had 4 wheel disk brakes,
and the TurboQuattro models have all that AND full
time all wheel drive! Basically every weak point of
the Peugeot is a strong point with the Audi. Parts
are relatively cheap and widely available, headgaskets
don't blow easily, even when put under significant
increases from stock boost. Turbos are
strong/reliable. ABS parts are easy to get and not
excessively expensive (relatively). Plus the heated
seats in these cars usually works very well and are
usually not typical off/on, but rather off,
1,2,3,4,5,6! The Audi drivetrain layout is much
easier to deal with as well. No torque tube. The
Audi equilivent is the center support bearing, which
while not fun to replace, is far easier than the joint
in the Peugeots. The center support bearing is a
non-issue if you get a front wheel drive Audi.
Definitely not to knock Peugeots, I personally love
them. They definitely have a certain panache lacking
in just about every car out there. However, where the
Pug is weak, the Audi is strong, and where the Pug is
strong (uniqueness/panache/character), the Audi is a
close second. I'm not sure how many of the various
Pugs were built/imported, but if you're looking for
uniqueness, look no farther than the TurboQuattro
Audis. From 85-90, slightly less than 11,000 were
built! Not sure how many were imported here, but you
definitely wont see too many of the Quattros, which
were all 5 speed, since they didnt have an auto at
that time configured for all wheel drive.
Again, I love both. I currently own an 89 Audi 200
TurboQuattro. I would love to have a 505 Turbo with 5
speed, but they simply aren't to be had in my neck of
the woods (southern central Tennessee). Anyway, have
you ever noticed that ALL world rally cars are turbo
charged with all wheel drive and have been for the
past 15+ years? You know WHY? Audi Coupe Quattro.
Before that nobody campaigned all wheel drive. They
thought it was too complicated and thus failure prone.
The chief engineer in charge of the Quattro
development realized that and made the Quattro as
simple and straight forward as possible. As a result,
it is perhaps the most reliable mechanical awd system
ever made.
I would check out the Peugeot thoroughly and
definitely buy it if it checks out. But, if
turbo/5speed turns out to be more important than
Peugeot, then I would definitely look for an Audi!

Ben Pender
