Well, Glenn's '86 N9TE auto (listed for sale on this list on Sunday
past) has a new home. We have not been underneath it yet but with the
unfortunate exception of a little rust in the usual places, leading
edge of left rear wheel arch and front top of left front fender, this
thing is SWEET! It is super clean in and out. All exterior trim looks
new, and the inside, including the trunk, sparkle! Too bad it's an
auto with a buggered engine :( . It is too bad the engine went south
on him because he had a real nice car that I gather he did not really
get much of a chance to enjoy.
Anyway, we are going to do what we can to keep this one alive. We
will be looking for an engine and so far have a line on a few N9TEA
motors. What is involved in putting the N9TEA, with or without the
electronic boost control into this car?
Glenn also reported that the auto box was a little clunky going into
second on occasion. I have heard that this '86 auto is not the most
desirable of units. I don't know much about auto's. Is it likely
that a filter change and tune-up would put it back on song? Can these
things be economically rebuilt?
Regards
John
Looking forward to the Washington meet on the 5th!
