[Peugeot-L] Mi16 oil gauge problem

I did my regular oil/filter change two weeks ago. A few days later, I noticed that the OIL temperature needle is just sitting limp on the left pin even though the engine is fully warmed up. Also, the oil level indication doesn't work at start up.

Not surprisingly, when I put it up on jackstands this morning I found a loose wire dangling at the rear of the engine. No connector, just a wire with half an inch of insulation stripped off. The wire is bundled with three other wires. One goes to the sensor on the sump well, next to the drain plug. The other two wires go to a connector on the back of the engine. But I can't find where my loose wire belongs. (Being far-sighted, it's tough to focus on something two inches above my face.)

Can anyone tell me where this wire goes?
