Every so often I will turn the lights on, and walk around the vehicle to make sure
they all the lights are working. A few nights ago, I did that, and my license plates
were not working. So I lifted the gate, and when I closed it, they came back on. I
checked all the connections behind the panel, and they all looked fine.
What I did notice, though, was that when the gate is lifted, the license plate lights
go out. Are they all like that? My concern is that the license plate lights are somehow
tied into the mercury switch that turns on the rearmost dome light. And if they are, I
don't like the idea of relying on that switch not failing. Can I bypass the switch, if that
is the case?
