Checked it out more thoroughly and took it for a drive.

Car is AMAZING - but the yahoo that owned it previously thought he could work it himself, which is fine if you have a brain. He redid all the vacuum hoses in red silicone - nice - if you know what your doing. I took it out and the car was shutting down hard at 5000 rpm. Did it a second time and noticed boost gauge was out of whack and just as the boost built it slammed past 1 bar and the engine shut down. Pulled over immediately and checked the hoses to make sure nothing popped off. Idiot boy had the wastegate hose connected to the intake pipe after the filter - so there's no boost control whatsoever! Drove it back to the dealer and explained the issue. I tried to find the correct routing - but I couldn't find the boost port on the intake or the turbo. Dealer wasn't willing to put any of his own money into it and I didn't feel like spending my afternoon fixing it. They are going to see if they can get it fixed if it's cheap before I head back.

I'd still buy it in a heart beat though if I could determine no damage to the engine has occurred - which I can't do with short notice and no tools. The car is under consignment and the dealer doesn't want to put any money into it.

Other than the engine - the rest of the car was FANTASTIC. A little rust around the windshield and that's it. Car was pretty minty with good drive axle boots and a decent interior. Definitely a car with tremendous potential. Easily one of the best handling cars I've ever driven. Paint was OK with a little oxidation and some scratches. Car is Dark metalic grey with a light grey suède and cloth Recaro interior that's in decent shape.

I was thinking of low-balling them, but without knowing for sure what the engine is like internally - I ain't gonna touch it. Other than the boost issue, the car ran OK - It needs a tune up, and it leaks oil quite badly up top, but nothing crazy. (no puddles under the car after the drive.)

I'm going to some more research on parts availability and to see how much abuse those motors can take before they die.

I should also mention the car is the less desirable 8V version - still an amazing care though. I could have so much fun with it!!
