The spark plug in cylinder #1 rapidly gets oil fouled.
This could also explain 2 very recent incidents of rapid oil loss after
highway driving, but no notable loss in short trips.
Compression check as follows
May, 2005 182,000 miles, Cyl # 1->4
Compression, Dry 182 158 158 155
Compression, Wet 214 201 198 182
The ³dry² reading for # 1 is suspect as the plug had a nice coating of oil
on it; and the wet reading seem quite high.
Could this possibly be a valve guide seal problem? What other tests or
diagnosis should I do to confirm the problem?
TIA,
