The oe oil rings on xn6 are 4-piece--pretty hard to break. But they can
sludge up and stick.
I would try a couple quarts of ATF in the oil, overfilling by about a quart
so it would really splash the pistons. This may not be advisable if you
see sludge on the rocker arms rather than bare metal, though, as the
detergent might clean all that crap off and circulate it with the oil,
where it might clog somewhere important. If there is a lot of visible
sludge, the engine is probably not getting warmed up, due to short-trip
driving, a cold thermostat, or locked-down fan.
Ifou don't do something about the oil consumption soon, it will destroy the
catalytic converter.
