Re: [Peugeot-L] Re: Separating a Tie-rod end - how hard should this be?

So, for the record, it would be better not to "wail on the suspension arm" or "whack" it, if we can find ways to "encourage" separation -- some form of penetrating fluid/lubricant, then pressing the joint apart. Even the hammer on top of the nut (loosened to protect the threads) could be misinterpreted by one of us with big muscles to mean enough force to damage the casting.

I knew there was some reason for those "pullers" on the market! But there are so many sizes, and they cost so much that I'll probably keep using my "wimpy whack" methods, until I fail to realize my strength (or anger) and break something really expensive!

It may seem like we've spent a lot of time on this tie-rod end for Ian, but I think the larger issue is being appropriately tender or brutish with whatever situation we have at hand. It has been worth it to me to find out the 7-8 ways that 5-6 of us have of dealing with these sorts of things. I've filed them all!!
