OnHey group...
I've been noticing that my belt driven fan doesn't come on when the
electric fan comes on, and I found the cause yesterday...the clutch's
brush holder was just dangling on it's wire! The brush was intact, so
I cleaned it, did my best to clean the commutator with a pipe cleaner,
then reinstalled the brush. I could feel the brush contact something
inside the clutch. Even with 12 volts applied directly to the clutch
though, nothing. I tried manually closing the gap with the juice
hooked up, but it simply will not stay.
So what do I look at next? This design seems so simple to me, yet the
clutch seems do difficult to remove and analyze. Does anyone know what
else can be wrong with this? Thanks!
