Thanks all for the info on whether to change out the timing belt on my ZDJL. No hesitation, this will be a priority job for the care in the coming weeks.
Another question to ask the group at large: I've removed the air conditioning unit from my 1991 DL (USA model) and I seek some (easy) way of tapping a switch from inside the car to activate the electric fan manually while driving. With the A/C removed, I hear a clicking under the dash in the passesnger's footwellwhen I depress the ECCO button--what was used to activate the a/c (I think--it never worked).
I wonder if there's a remnant of the a/c system that I can use to switch on the electric fan. Of course, I'll wire a separate relay to the fan since it draws some umph.
I've been sticking in my Volt Ohm Meter to find either some 12 v or continuity when that switch is enaged, but no luck I'm afraid. I'd rather not drill and blast my way into the cab to install a dedicated switch wire for this purpose.
Any ideas? --Paul
