Re: [Peugeot-L] 505 ZDJL Water Pump question

I kindda botched my gasket that I was to install on my N9TE engine. However it didn't leak. The reason - Toyota FIPG (Form In-Place Gasket). It's a Permatex-type sealant. Comes in a white tube and the stuff is black. Wear gloves as if you get it on your hands it will be there a while. Work carefully and cleanly.

Nothing seals better than this stuff.

Toyota part #: 00295-00102 (old number), 00295-00103 (new number)

Any Toyota dealer should have it in stock. If you want to buy it on-line go to
https://www.1sttoyotaparts.com/ (Bob Bridges Toyota in Renton, WA)

I also switched to Toyota red coolant at the same time. (a THOROUGH flush is necessary) No silicates or borates.

Bleed via Peugeot factory specs.

Your cooling system is the most important system in the longevity of your engine. No scrimping here.

Good luck,

I'm replacing the water pump on my '91 SW8 with ZDJL engine. The new pump (purchased on e-bay) has 2 gaskets: 1 loose in the bag that seals against the engine, and 1 that is in place between the pump body and a metal "plate" that apparently is sandwiched between the pump body and the engine block.

My problem is that the gasket inserted between the pump body and the plate is split at the topmost bolt hole. I could swap it with the other gasket, which appears to be the exact same size and shape, but fitting it in place might split it also. I would suspect that the split gasket would work better between the plate and block (with a dab of sealent) since it does not appear to be as much of a possible leak area.

Of course, I may be missing something here as I have not removed the Onold pump yet...

Suggestions?
