Probably the alternator.
Though I have not had a Peug diesel in a while, alt re/re ing is one
of the easier jobs on most cars. If you have a spare alt, go have it
tested, then give yourself an hour and switch it up.
Most times when the bat light comes on, it is usually the alt.
(Most larger car part chains will test the alt while on the car for
free.)
However, it can also be a bad connection, loose fan belt, weak
battery or a short in the I/P.
I am currently in the midst of a blinking bat light nightmare, even
after a new battery, cables and a re built alt.
Good luck with yours, normally it's a pretty straight forward fix.
