Vincent,
I have never heard of R12A (been in the automotive
business for 30 years, working exclusively on french
cars).
I have however dealt with Enviro-Safe, which is
apparently compatible with R-12 systems. It is even
endorsed by Green Peace. It has worked in two Peugeots
owned by customers here in Dallas... and that's saying
something !
There is also Freeze-12, although I have never dealt
with it myself.
Be very careful when using some of these replacement
refrigerants as some that came to market and were
"approved" also turned out to be flammable !
All these 'alternative' refrigerants mess up the
recycling machines... so whatever you do... label the
system so the next guy doesn't have to guess.
