Saturday, I am just getting on expressway. All of a sudden, no power. Whoa! I coasted to
side of the road, out of the way of traffic. I then tried a restart- it like wants to start, but
dies after catching. Hmmm.
Instinctively, I checked the ign/inj relays, making sure they're ok. Check and no-go.
Cursory looks around the engine bay. Wires and such. Maybe some jiggling will help--
yeah right.
Arms in the air and hope slim, I decide I need a hook. As in towtruck. Did you ever
notice that people don't stop nowadays? Well, okay, I am a chump without a cellphone. I
found a white bath towel that I was using as a rag in the trunk, and I started waving that. It
worked like a charm, where the next car pulled over and he had a phone to call the tow
truck. He left.
So I am waiting. And waiting.
I tried a restart after a while sitting there, and it started and ran just a little bit longer
before dying again. So I am thinking- the problem is temperature related. Hmm.. I start
looking again. Lo and behold, the connector to the NTC sensor has worked itself free.
Viola! I snapped that puppy back, hit the key, and off I went. To the nearest phone, which
was at the next exit. I then immediately called and cancelled the tow truck.
What a sweet sound it was to have the engine idling without dying. I can't tell how good it
felt to accelerate away from that bloody spot.
I don't think that there's a nicer feeling than finding something simple under the hood
when you are stuck. Nope, can't be.
