Ok, I just now have gotten around to registering tags for my new 1984
Xd3s 505 TurboDiesel sedan with 3 speed auto gearbox. It was given to
me by my uncle and I have plans of converting it to use waste vegetable
oil. However before I do that I need to fix a few problems.
- Some kind of brake problem. The rear brakes seemed to be not
working but the front brakes were working fine, however it felt like I
was pulling a train behind me. I drove the car before we found and
fixed a giant vaccum leak and it did not accelerate nearly this slow.
So I took off the rear calipers, compressed them and lubed the rails and
generally tried to get them unstuck. The drivers rear caliper had
extreme uneven wear with the outside pad being worn down to a sliver of
a triangle. Both calipers had holes or tears in the rubber
seals/boots. After getting them working better (I thought) I drove the
car and the exact same problem occured. So while driving I decided to
pop the handbrake to see if anything wout happen. No difference, car
didn't slow down any faster or react at all. Is this a stuck handbrake
problem and what do I need to do first? I realize my rear calipers need
replacing or rebuilding, what are my options on that? I'm assuming
AutoZone doesn't carry rebuilt Peugeot calipers.
- Speedometer doesn't work. What do I check first?
Other than that the car got the excellent (yeah right) silver paint so
it has a bit of surface rust, I'll get that taken care of as soon as I
can drive the thing.
