Richard,

The XN6 alternator will fit on a diesel if you use the diesel pulley and spacers if present. The wires should be the same -- one heavy nutted connector, one light one, and one light push-on. There are at least three different-length adjuster brackets on diesel alternators. The XN6 alternator takes the shortest one, used by diesel Motorola alternators. If your diesel alternator is Paris-Rhone or Bosch you will have to replace or shorten the slider bracket.
