[Peugeot-L] Re: 505 TD XD3T Problems

It sound like you will take the advise already given and look at the bottome end but I would strongly advise against fooling with the pump timing. If it was running well previously it is unlikely that the pump timing would all of a sudden gone off unless the pump is loose for some strange reason. Timing seems to one of those things that we driveway mechanics always want to "fiddle" with when things are not running quite right but I suggest that on the diesel you resist this urge unless you know what you are doing. Diesels are very sensitive to correct pump timing and serious damage can be done if you get it wrong.

Good luck and I hope it is nothing too $$$. How do you like the XD3T in the Rover? What model Rover do you have? I always thought that that engine would be great in an 88". A friend is doing the conversion right now, a spare engine of mine into myh old '60 SII 88" as a matter of fact, but it is not a priority so it might be a while before I get a test drive.
