Re: [Peugeot-L] boost controller

The MBC should get it's source from the intake, and the output needs to go to the wastegate.

There is a boost port on the turbo itself - but you should plug that one and use a port off the intake. Just "T" into on of the lines that has the right size.

Not sure about the 89' though cause it's got the fancy electrontic boost control - not sure if your wanting to bypass it totally, or if you want to use it inline. N9TEA owners would have to advise specifics. (Mine's and 86')

Please be warned though!!! Be VERY careful with a MBC - if your not running aftermarket boost gauge, A/F meter, or monitoring exhaust temp then going for more boost can be VERY dangerous. It's tempting "just to see", but one bad move and you can kiss the engine good bye. Use extreme caution and make sure your doing it properly before hooking it up.

Only way I'd exceed the factory boost levels would be if I uprated the injectors, had a better RRFR, and I had a wideband O2 sensor and I was monitoring exhaust temp. If you go for the quick and dirty MBC - then be prepared to destroy the engine.

If you've done nothing to the car, at a minimum get a boost gauge, and don't exceed 14 - 15 psi to be somewhat safe. Absolute max on good gas I'd say 17 psi, but your playing with fire at that boost level and higher. All it takes is a lazy injector and you'll hole a piston very quickly.

I've been racing my car at 10 - 12 psi and I had traction issues while slaloming.

I'd also suggest doing a BOV (Blow Off Valve. or by-pass valve if you vent it back into the intake) before upping the boost for sure.

Good luck!

Rabin

I recently purchased turbosmart manual boost controller, what is the   most affective way of having this installed, and where should the hoses   lead to?
