I am in the process of taking all the door panels off and lubing things up.
It all started when I discovered a rear window that wasn't working. I found a bad
motor, and luckily I had a replacement on the shelf. It is easier than it looks to switch
them out.
One little trick that I learned when putting the panel back on is to make sure the
two big phillips screws that hold the handle/armrest are in the nylon holes before you
push the panel flush. You have to push down on screws slightly while the panel is
loose to do that.
I also had a dome light switch that wasn't working. There are a couple of different
designs. The one that wasn't working was revived using a small wire brush. There is a
contact point at the back that was covered with dirt and dust. Very easy fix. Looking
through my spares, I noticed that there is one that has a different design, and instead
of having mainly metal construction, it has a black plastic housing and it looks like
the contact points are not accessible.
It was kinda funny, because I was thrown for a loop for a second. After I got the
light switch working again, as I was trying it, it was behaving really funny, where the
light was staying on, even with the switch pushed in, then it would magically go out
on it's own. Then I remembered the time delay on the light of about 30 seconds.
I also found some plugged drain holes, which are good to check periodically.
