I have a '86 505 wagon. It is still running and in good shape. I
live in Virginia, near Washington. I have a problem with the
central locking system that prevents me from opening both the
driver's door and the rear hatch (the other doors can be unlocked
manually and the manual explained how to open the gas door). I have
not tried to take the door apart yet (thought it was better to ask
first) and it will be harder because the door is locked closed. My
assumption is that the celanoid that operates the lock is frozen.
When I turn the key, the lock button rises part way, but there is
resistance to it going up all the way and releasing. I tried to use
the non-ignition key to unlock the rear hatch. Although the key fits
the lock, it does not turn. Any suggestions on how to approach
this? Note: I checked the fuses and it looks ok. Also, the
cigarette lighter (which is suppose to be on the same circuit
works). The problem first arose last week. I was driving home
from work and the car stopped. Initially, it seemed like an
alternator problem since the battery was dead. After the car was
towed to a local garage, I noticed that the key would not unlock the
car. Subsequently, the local garage found a broken wire near the
battery, replaced the battery and the alternator seems to be ok.
The local garage can do basic things, but they have no experience
with Peugeot's or desire to learn. There is no one close to me
that
has experience. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
