OnI'm one of the two admins...yes.
I belong to about 12-15 mailing lists...(yes, Yahoogroups is a mailing list
not a forum. The difference is that they allow you to post via their web
interface as well)
All but maybe 2 work like Peugeot-L. Mailing lists have commonly worked
like this since I've been on the Internet in 1995. The method is simple.
Only recently have mailing lists been commonly configured to have the reply
header default to the mailing list and not to the author of the
message. Mailing lists that do work this way though result in a lot of
"sorry, didn't mean to reply to the entire list" mistakes that sometimes
can be downright embarrassing or alerts and entire mailing list of an offer
made on parts or whatever.
I'd highly suggest using a real email client (POP3, SMTP) to post and
receive messages. I don't know what Yahoo's interface looks like for
posting and reading messages, but I guarantee that's a big problem with
your poor user experience.
