Peter,

If you are truly concerned with getting the right size, 35mm, I would check with MAC, Snap-on, Proto, or, nowadays, Matco. I used a half inch drive 36mm Proto socket ( 5436-M) for 30 years until I actually measured the nut -its a nut, not a bolt- and never had any problem.

Though I was looking for a 35mm 1/2 inch drive socket I went to, I think, Orchard Supply Hardware and ended up buying a Craftsman 1 3/8" 3/4 inch drive socket (Craftsman # -G-47779). I use it with a 3/4 to 1/2 converter, though it is a bit longer than the Proto socket and a bit more problematic slipping on the nut as the shroud tends to get in the way.

If you are just adjusting valves either 35mm, 1 3/8" or 36mm should be fine. I tried to get the right size when I had to re-torque the nut after removing the timing cover. The 36mm would probably have fit well enough, but I didn't want anything to strip out. Ken
