[Peugeot-L] Re: Forum vs Mailing List - II

The better forums have features where you can choose to get instant email notifications of replies to a thread you're subscribed to. This way you won't be bombarded constantly by every reply, only the ones you're interested in. Isn't that for the better?

The real problem with this list is:

  1. The search function is totally useless. Vectorbd was great with the archive and search. This list went into the dark ages when it went to yahoo groups.
  2. Default setting is reply to the author of the thread, not to the list. This coupled with #1 makes it a PITA to use.

etc.) and don't use them nearly as mcuh as this one (or other lists I'm on) because you have to go out of your way to acccess them. Many of us have email on all day and every time someone on this list sends a message, I see it instantly. Very handy and it makes it that much easier to stay involved. That's the way the LandCruiser list is set up and people are talking back and forth all day long. That is one of the most productive car groups out there.

tiny group of Peugeot owners. I own 4 of these cars and can't work on them myself. For 20 years I've been plagued by the most incompetent mechanics from Washngton DC to upstate New York and most places in between. Without this group, well-meaning supporters of the marque like me would have to trash these cars. Even getting parts is often impossible with recourse to this list.
