[Peugeot-L] 405 wagon Roof Racks

From: Bob Bruce <bobbruce_at_mts.net>

I've never used the SW roof rails on either the 405 or 505...too flimsy I've seen factory crossbars for them on eBay but always missed out I have Thule's for all my 505s but they are univ gutter mts There are Thule adaptors for the 405s different ones for the sedan and SW They allow the Thule non gutter mount universal to be attached I tracked down a Thule guy in UK but he won't take VISA or ship out of country Thanks a lot
The 4 mounting holes are behind the door rubbers they look like 8 X 1.25 mm threaded If I ever have to I will bolt metal to these 4 holes then build a rack on top of them Like the 304 404 403 and 204 had holes on the roof connected through to the roof subframe You could stack a hell of a load on them

Here is my correspondence with the UK
Perhaps he will help you by email a photo:

Hi

We stopped shipping overseas after we had a series of problems with both couriers and processing international credit card orders.

We can send the #79 fitting kit to your friend in London.

Total cost £27.46 including vat and delivery

However as we won't take non uk credit cards, you would have to get him to pay, or use a credit transfer for the amount.

Cheers
pete

  Pete,
I don't understand why you can't write my address in Canada on the box   and drop it in the mail.
I had a guy mail me a towbar from UK it was no big deal.   I have a friend in UK.
How much for the #79 and how much to send it to him in London?   Do you accept VISA or MasterCard ?

    Hi

Yes we currently have the 79 in stock and could source the 107. Unfortunately we are not currently shipping internationally.

    Cheers

Do you have either a Thule fit kit #79 for a 1989 Peugeot 405 sedan
      or a #107 for a 1990 Peugeot 405 SW ?

  Bob,

On  Thanks for the tip. I'll probably be emailing Madhu within the week. She was in a bit of a panic when she called, I thought the socket had cracked. But, when she showed up, it'd just popped off and I was able to pop it back on... Waiting to see if she's willing to spring for the $50...

More pressing issue is the roof rack. Do you have the factory rack?

Issue is the "set screws" that hold the bars to the side rails are funky and when she puts her kayak on the bars the weight spreads the rails and the bars drop out... My suggestion was to use plastic ties to pull the rails tight and keep the bars in their sockets. Her version is a Thule strap "web." Works, but...
