Yes, you do have to lift a ring to get it into reverse. The orignal transmission lost fifth gear so they put a used 89 model trans in it. If this is the nature of the beast, then thats cool. It runs fine, I was just curious if this was normal. I have been through the front end rebuild on my other 405s before so this is not a big deal. I am debating if i should do it to my old one too. Still deciding if I should keep it or sell it. The body is rough on it but it still runs good.
