Been taking the Diesel wagon out for some short trips; Rotella T and filter and some fresh diesel fuel are making quite a difference. It was a mosquito fogger, and bit by bit it is running cleaner and better. However, the electrics are a mess*. There is a bad ground engine-frame under the battery which gets replaced next week, but there is a huge list of things to fix.The tachometer which was not working at all, is now working erraticly, bouncing all over, so still no use.
What is the "sweet spot" for the 86 diesel wagon, RPM wise, and what speed is that equivalent to?
What speed should I limit it to, for best mileage?
What speed should be my maximum steady speed on a good road, lightly loaded?
It seems quietest/happiest? at a steady 90Kph/55 mph
60k/35m = RPM?
80k/50m = RPM?
90k/55m = RPM?
100kph/60 mph = RPM?
110kph/65 mph =RPM?
*by electrics, include no cruise, no horn, no dashboard lights, no rear windows (or the lockout button is shot), weird tail/stop light faults, tach, boost (although the turbo itself seems to be working) and oil temp not working--although the oil level indicator before starting does work.
